Alaska Cobuk Skinner

The Inuit word for caribou is Cobuk, so that’s what Alaskan guide and custom knifemaker Russ Kommer named this nifty new CRKT skinning knife.
Our production model is based on the custom version that Russ makes and uses himself in skinning the Alaskan game that his clients bag. The result is
a compact, lightweight and innovative knife/sheath system with exactly the features that hunters need. It is perfectly sized to handle everything from a Texas
Whitetail Deer to an Alaskan Moose
The full tang blade is tough AUS 6M stainless steel, in a shape designed to make the knife part of the hand in the slipperiest conditions. It has a full bellied
profile, high hollow grind and gut hook for maximum productivity. Blade length is about the same as your index finger, so you know intuitively where the blade
tip is at all times when working inside an animal.

The handle features friction grooves at top and bottom, plus an unusual pommel ring and control point swell. The result is better control when the knife is
gripped conventionally, and much greater security when gripped with the little finger inside the ring.

Then you can let the knife drop, swing from your finger while you pull a hide, and with a wrist flip, bring the Cobuk back up into your hand. It’s always there,
and never falls in the dirt.

In addition, the handle features contoured and textured Zytel® scales, which are almost indestructible, solvent resistant, and even removable for cleaning.
Lightening holes minimize weight.

Finally, we engineered a custom polycarbonate sheath system for the Cobuk. It is rigid, so the blade tip will not cut through, as sometimes happens with
leather sheaths. A belt clip is designed for maximum security on belts or webbing up to 2” wide. A large weep hole drains moisture.
