Surefire L.E.D. Light Systems

KL1 Premium LED Conversion Head
Light emitting diode (LED) technology is now available as an add-on conversion for SureFire’s Executive Series of high-performance flashlights. Unlike typical LED lights that produce miniscule amounts of illumination, the new KL1 Premium LED Conversion Head produces up to 17 lumens of light with the extended runtime typical of an LED flashlight. The conversion head consists of a bezel/lamp assembly fitted with a digital regulator, a one-watt LumaMax™ LED, and a custom designed light-focusing lens. The primary benefit of the Premium LED Conversion Heads over a standard incandescent lamp is runtime. LEDs produce light more efficiently at low wattage levels, so a battery that is too depleted to run an incandescent lamp still has plenty of life to power an LED. The drawback to most LEDs is that they do not produce a steady amount of light as the battery drains. However, SureFire’s Premium LED Conversion Heads differ from other manufacturer’s LED flashlights by using a digital regulator (KL1 & KL3) to maintain a consistent level of light output for as long as possible, while also protecting the LED module from current and heat-related damage. SureFire is the first to utilize these breakthrough features in a hand-held LED.

KL3 Premium LED Conversion Head
Light emitting diode (LED) technology is now available as an add-on conversion for SureFire's 6P, D2/D3, Z2/Z3, C2/C3, and M2 flashlights. Unlike typical LED lights that produce miniscule amounts of illumination, the new KL3 Premium LED Conversion Head produces up to 19 lumens of light with the extended runtime typical of an LED flashlight. However, SureFire's Premium LED Conversion Heads differ from other manufacturer's LED flashlights by using a digital regulator (KL1 & KL3) to maintain a consistent level of light output for as long as possible, while also protecting the LED module from current and heat-related damage. SureFire is the first to utilize these breakthrough features in a hand-held LED. Now you can convert your ultra bright tactical light to a long running light that's perfect for all general use applications.

KL2 Premium LED Conversion Head
Light emitting diode (LED) technology is now available as an add-on conversion for SureFire's M3 and M3T CombatLights. Unlike typical LED lights that produce miniscule amounts of illumination, the new KL2 Premium LED Conversion Head produces up to 27 lumens of light (more than a two D-cell flashlight) with the extended run times typical of an LED flashlight. The conversion head consists of a bezel/lamp assembly fitted with an array of 19 five-millimeter Nichia™ LEDs, and a custom designed light-focusing lens. The primary benefit of the KL2 Premium LED Conversion Head over a standard incandescent lamp is runtime. LEDs produce light more efficiently at low wattage levels, so a battery that is too depleted to run an incandescent lamp still has plenty of life to power an LED. This extended runtime - albeit with less light output than an incandescent - is what makes the KL2 perfect for applications such as crime scene investigation, camping/hiking, hunting/ fishing, emergency preparedness, disaster recovery, and rescue operations. The KL2 also features built-in digital current limiter to protect the LED from current and heat-related damage.
L1 LumaMax
Constructed of aerospace grade aluminum with a rugged military specification hard-anodized finish, and powered by a single lithium battery (10-year shelf life), the L1 LumaMax features a one-watt LED (Light Emitting Diode) and the extended runtime typical of LED flashlights. The L1’s digitally controlled two-stage switch allows the user to choose either a low-output beam for close-up work or a high-output beam for full power applications -- simply depress the tailcap switch halfway for the low beam, continue depressing to activate the high beam. Twist the tailcap to achieve constant light on either beam setting. The L1 also features digital current regulation circuitry to match the LED's current requirements with the battery's output to maintain a more consistent level of light output for the useable life of the batteries (as opposed to unregulated lights, which are subject to a steady decline in light intensity beginning shortly after activation).

The L1 produces useable light for up to 50 hours on the low-beam setting; high-beam runtime is approximately two hours. Unlike most LED flashlight manufacturers -- who inflate the light output and usable runtimes of their LEDs -- SureFire provides realistic output and runtime specifications based on scientifically obtained measurements. Although any LED -- including those produced by SureFire -- can continue to produce negligible light output for over 50 hours, the amount of "useful" light produced is of a shorter duration.

L4 LumaMax
Constructed of aerospace grade aluminum with a rugged military specification hard-anodized finish, and powered by two lithium batteries (10-year shelf life), the L4 LumaMax features a five-watt LED (Light Emitting Diode) and the extended runtime typical of LED flashlights. With a maximum light output of 65 lumens, the L4 is the first LED flashlight bright enough to qualify for tactical use. The L4 is equipped with a new click-on/click-off tailcap pushbutton switch that gives the user the tactical advantage of momentary activation or the convenience of a constant-on “click” switch in a single switch. The L4 also features digital current regulation circuitry to match the LED's current requirements with the battery's output to maintain a more consistent level of light output for the useable life of the batteries (as opposed to unregulated lights, which are subject to a steady decline in light intensity beginning shortly after activation).

The L4 produces 65 lumens of light output for over an hour and useful light for over four hours. Unlike most LED flashlight manufacturers -- who inflate the light output and usable runtimes of their LEDs -- SureFire provides realistic output and runtime specifications based on scientifically obtained measurements. Although any LED -- including those produced by SureFire -- can continue to produce negligible light output for over 100 hours, the amount of useful light produced is of a shorter duration.

A2 Aviator
Originally developed for professional aviators -- who needed a light bright enough to illuminate a 747's tail section from the ground, yet not so bright that it would degrade their night vision when used in the cockpit -- the A2 Aviator is perfect for anyone needing a high and low beam in a single long-running flashlight. In other words, it's perfect for campers, hikers, boaters, everyone.

Constructed of aerospace grade aluminum with a super-rugged, military specification hard-anodized finish, and powered by two lithium batteries (10-year shelf life), the 5.6 inch, 4.0 ounce Aviator features a high-output incandescent lamp surrounded by three LEDs (light emitting diodes) set in a specially designed parabolic reflector. The Aviator's LEDs are available in four color choices.

The Aviator's unique digitally controlled two-stage switching mechanism allows the user to choose LEDs for close-up work or the high output lamp for full power applications. Digital current regulation circuitry provides a more consistent (even) level of incandescent light output and color temperature for the useable life of the batteries.

Even after the Aviator's batteries have been depleted to the point that they will no longer power its incandescent lamp, plenty of energy remains to power the LEDs for many more hours. The digital current regulation circuitry also extends the life of the incandescent lamp by allowing for a "soft start" instead of subjecting the tungsten filament to the potentially damaging voltage spike that occurs when turning on an unregulated light.
